One does not simply hold a virtual reunion of an epic billion-dollar trilogy...or do they? In case you’ve been living under a rock somewhere in Middle-earth, the cast of “Lord of the Rings” will be reuniting through Zoom this Sunday, thanks to actor and fanboy Josh Gad. Gad has been bringing the casts of popular films like “The Goonies” and “Back to the Future” back together in his YouTube series “Reunited Apart,” and movie nerds everywhere are infinitely thankful.
Gad dropped a teaser trailer earlier this week to officially announce the reunion:
In addition to Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Orlando Bloom, Sir Ian McKellen, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, there will also be special appearances from director Peter Jackson, Andy Serkis, Viggo Mortensen, Karl Urban, Sean Bean, John Rhys-Davies, Liv Tyler and Miranda Otto. Somebody pinch me! It’s been nearly two decades since the filming of “Lord of the Rings,” but its effect on pop culture and nerds hasn’t been forgotten. We've got a feeling that this long-awaited get-together will be especially precious.
You can catch the reunion on Gad’s YouTube channel this Sunday, May 31 at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET, just in time for second breakfast.
