Lizzo Feels Like a Poor, Unfortunate Soul for Not Being Cast as Live-Action Ursula

Over the weekend, Variety reported that Melissa McCarthy ("Bridesmaids," "Ghostbusters," "Can You Ever Forgive Me?") is in talks to take on the role of Ursula in Disney's live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid." The film has been itching to get its feet off the ground for a few years now, so a casting announcement should be exciting; but for singer, rapper and flute extraordinaire Lizzo, it's not. Lizzo, you see, had her own sights set on the character -- take this elaborate "audition video" as evidence. The performer (who will appear in September's "Hustlers" with Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart and Julia Stiles) reacted sadly to the McCarthy news, and fans are coming to her defense, charging the giant studio with not doing its due diligence and demanding a recast. Still, others want Tituss Burgess to take on the character.
