You're familiar with Lizzo by now, yes?
The 31-year-old rapper released her third studio album "Cuz I Love You" in April to incredible success. She performed at both the MTV Movie & TV Awards (singing "Juice") and BET Awards (singing "Truth Hurts") this month, and her lyrics of self-love, forging your own path and ultimately finding success on your own are resonating with women everywhere.
But it's her single "Boys" that's getting the most attention recently. This tune about the draw of the opposite sex, specifically the second verse of it, is having a moment on Twitter.
(Lizzo's music can get a little freaky. If your boss or kids are nearby, approach this video with caution!)
Unhandled
That second verse sparked a Twitter thread trend, where users are pairing each line with a photo that represents it. The original tweets used lizards, for example. Lizzo...lizards...I guess it makes sense.
Another used pups from the popular Dog Rates page:
Yet another used horses, which is actually cuter than it sounds, but my personal favorite likens Lizzo's lyrics to everyone's favorite boss, Michael Scott.
Lizzo herself is a big fan of these threads, commenting on a couple of them herself with all caps, exuberant glee.
If it wasn't the year of Lizzo before, it is now!
