1. "Pathological" (Season 19)
Plot: The detectives are called on regarding a sexual assault case involving two disabled children who attend a special needs school. Upon further investigation, it's discovered that one of the students' medical disabilities stem from her abusive mother. The abuse case later turns to murder.
The real crime: This is an INSANE example of how things are not always as they appear. Gypsy Rose Blanchard was a victim of Munchausen by proxy, in which her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, pretended her daughter was disabled and chronically ill. At the hands of her abusive mother, Gypsy had to use feeding tubes, was kept wheelchair bound and spent her entire childhood in hospitals to treat conditions and illnesses she didn't actually have. This all culminated in 2015 when the 23-year-old Gypsy Rose brutally murdered her mother at their home in Missouri.
