ICYMI, the full-length trailer for Disney's live-action "Lady and the Tramp" remake was released over the weekend during the D23 Expo in California. It stars Monte, a rescue pup who plays Tramp, and Rose, a regal cocker spaniel who plays Lady.
The movie already made headlines last week when we got Monte's backstory: The 2-year-old terrier mix was living at shelters in New Mexico and Arizona when Hollywood animal trainer scouts were looking around to cast Tramp, one of whom ended up adopting the dog herself. Not to mention that all of the dogs featured in the film (out exclusively on Disney+ on Nov. 12 with no theatrical release) were permanently adopted after filming. Such goodness!
During the expo, Monte and Rose had their time in the spotlight, walking -- er, trotting? -- the red carpet in front of flashing cameras. This, I imagine, was the highlight of every celebrity photographer's day.
While Monte's puppy dog eyes rival any I've seen before, Rose was the clear charmer here. No stranger to the camera, obviously, Rose smiled like the darling she is and even did some posing, popping up on her hind legs to the delight of those assembled.
Hilary Duff, who attended the Expo to announce the reboot-slash-sequel-series of Disney Channel's knockout preteen show "Lizzie McGuire," even got to hang out on the carpet and get some puppy kisses that the entire summit was surely jealous of.
Justin Theroux and Tessa Thompson will voice the pups in the film, but, c'mon -- we know who the real stars are.
