Fashion guru Jonathan Van Ness of the “Queer Eye” Fab Five is preparing for co-star Karamo Brown’s wedding in the most JVN way -- by requesting to be a “ring girl.”
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Brown revealed that Van Ness denied Brown’s request to be his best man, instead opting for a more central role: ring bearer.
"I said, ‘Do you want to be my best man?’ and he’s like, ‘No, I want to be your ring bearer, your little ring girl.’ And I’m like OK hunny, you can be my ring girl,” Brown said.
Van Ness, beyond excited about his role in his friend’s nuptials, described the kind of outfit he’d love to wear for his walk down the aisle.
“I would be so excited to be a ring bearer. I just want to wear a really cute Prince Charles outfit. Like, I want to wear a cute little white frock,” he said, though we’re really hoping he meant Prince Louis a la his recent christening and not the baby’s 69-year-old grandfather.
The original gown was first used for the christening of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter Princess Victoria in 1841. This replica that Louis, Charlotte and George wore is made of Spitalfields silk and Honiton lace. So, yeah, it's as over the top as JVN himself.
“Princess Kate: Yes for recycling fashion. Thank you for giving me permission to recycle things,” Van Ness continued. “All three of those babies wore the same christening gown; it’s so stunning. I want a 31-year-old, six-foot-tall version of that christening gown. I need one!”
Ahem -- it’s Duchess Kate, Jonathan. It’s OK, you tried.
The Netflix star is no stranger to an eccentric wardrobe, so the thought of him in a replica christening gown isn’t that far off, TBH.
Brown and fiancé Ian Jordan have a (private) date set with Merv Griffin estate in Palm Springs for the fall, and other “Queer Eye” cast members have been tapped to help with the planning, like Bobby Berk’s assistance with the bachelor party.
The “Queer Eye” crew just stampeded social media with their Emmy nomination celebrations as well, even choreographing an #InMyFeelingsChallenge video that is amazing to watch (just don’t look at Antoni for too long).
The Netflix original makeover show is up for four Emmys, with Van Ness up for an additional one in the short-form variety series category for his “Gay of Thrones” web series.
