Attention, “The Office” fans! Even though the workplace comedy that we all know, love and continuously, obnoxiously quote is being taken off Netflix in the next couple of years, there may be hope for us yet.
Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin) are teaming up for a brand new podcast about “The Office.” Turns out they’re just as nostalgic as we are.
The premise of the podcast, aptly titled “Office Ladies,” is simple: episode recaps! It’s a format that does well across the board; from Bachelor Nation recaps to deep dives for “Game of Thrones” (which I’m still listening to even though the series ended months ago), TV fans are always excited to get more content about the programs they love. And if the hosts are funny and partake in decent banter, all the better!
I can assume we can expect that from Fischer and Kinsey, who are BFFs in real life (unlike their character counterparts, who sparred for more seasons than they didn’t) and frequently document their Target runs and compare mom-isms on social media.
For repeat Netflix bingers of “The Office,” what better way to engage in a final streaming spree of your treasured sitcom than to relive every episode with two of the OGs? And for Dunder Mifflin newbies, welcome. We’re happy to have you, and we’re excited for you to experience this journey in a new, enhanced way.
Luckily, “Office Ladies” won’t be your only source of content from all of the show’s alums in the near future. Kinsey, for one, has a new show appearing on Disney+ come November: She’ll host “Be Our Chef,” a cooking competition that will pit families against each other in food challenges at Walt Disney World. Plus, Steve Carell will play an ousted talk show host on “The Morning Show” for Apple’s new streaming service, and we’re (not so) patiently awaiting season 2 of John Krasinski’s “Jack Ryan” on Amazon Prime.
On top of episode recaps, Fischer and Kinsey’s podcast will feature everything from show trivia to behind-the-scenes stories about the cast and crew.
“Besides talking about ‘The Office,’ you can also hear us chat a little about our lives, our Target runs together, our friendship through the years,” Fischer said in a statement to CNN.
“‘The Office’ was such an amazing chapter of our lives, and it means so much to us that we get to share some of our memories of filming it with our audiences,” Kinsey added.
“Office Ladies” will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and anywhere else you can stream podcasts starting on Oct. 16.
