Is there anything more relaxing than settling into a bubble bath with a big glass of wine? I used to think that was the pinnacle of "me" time, but apparently there's a spa in Japan that can one-up our trusty at-home relaxation method.
Yunessun Spa Resort, located about an hour outside of Tokyo, has literal baths of wine where you can guzzle and relax and guzzle some more. At the baths throughout Yunessun, oversized bottles continuously pour wine into the pools. But why exactly are people flocking to bathe in Merlot? Turns out, red wine is chock full of resveratrol, an antioxidant that has a long history of anti-aging properties.
If red wine isn't your thing, or you just don't need to worry about anti-aging antioxidants just yet, don't worry, there's still a bath for you at Yunessun. The spa prides itself on being a cross between a Disney-esque resort and a classic onsen, or Japanese bathhouse. And how do they do that? With a bunch of themed baths, of course.
The sake pool is a great option if you're feeling bold and are craving shots over glasses of Malbec. The kojic acids in the Japanese rice wine help reduce signs of aging, while also minimizing sun spots
Are you feeling a little tired after all these steamy baths of alcohol? Pop into either the green tea or coffee bath to perk back up. The green tea helps you look younger, while the coffee reduces any puffiness or cellulite you might feel creeping up on you.
If the red wine and sake baths leave you hungry, Yunessun has you covered. Those with a drunk sweet tooth can dip their toes into the chocolate bath. And anyone craving something saltier can bathe in ramen noodle broth at the ramen baths.
My only question now is this: why can't we have nice things like Yunessun in America?! Instead, we're left with overpriced spas that offer you a boring old massage at best. Come on American spas! Let me bathe in Merlot and ramen already!
