1. Tsukiji Fish Market
Have you ever wondered how sushi gets to your plate? If you are an early riser, Tsukiji Fish Market, the biggest wholesale seafood market in the world, is a fun place to check out 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. when it is a bustling working market. Visitor access is restricted from the inner wholesale market, but you are welcome to walk the grounds in the outer market, where there are food stalls, restaurants and more sushi than you can imagine. Visitors can sometimes view the fish auctions from designated areas. The whole place is cleared out by 1:00 p.m. daily for cleaning, so don’t plan on sleeping in!
