Is It Too Little, Too Late for James Cameron's Sequel to "Avatar"?

Sorry, James Cameron -- it may be time to get off the pot. When mock-up images from the sequel to his 2009 epic "Avatar" were posted on Twitter this week, fans were...less than excited. Among the commentary to the photos were phrases like "very underwhelming," "nobody cares" and "bland and predictable." One user said, "Someone needs to sit James Cameron down, hold his hand and say in soothing, calming tone[s], 'There are literally three people excited about Avatar 2.' It’s going to be hard, but he needs to know. It’s time." Some are even chirping Cameron about "Avengers: Endgame" surpassing "Avatar" in box office winnings, suggesting that that's why the sequel is just now gaining traction (though he's always been a good sport about that). To be fair, production on the sequel has been delayed over and over again, so maybe we should cut him some slack. Besides, Cameron claims he has four scripts for "Avatar" sequels written, so he may just be playing the long game here.
