Impossible Foods Is Looking Into Fishless Fish, and We Have Questions

Back in February, we reviewed Wahlburgers' take on the Impossible Burger, the heme-based burger from Impossible Foods that's done...the impossible: It's good. The company somehow figured out a way to make a vegan plant burger emulate the texture of your average beef burger, and now they're looking to do the same with fish. By using plant-made, anchovy-flavored broth (used in paella recipes) and the same heme protein that texturizes their patties, they're hoping to achieve a fishy enough flavor and consistency to make it easier to live a vegan lifestyle. Beyond that, the company hopes to create alternatives for every animal-based food product on the market by 2035 -- a large order to fill.
