These days, there seems to be endless beer brewing kits available for anyone to DIY their own boozy bevys, but there hasn’t been a practical solution to make your own wine -- until now.
You can thank food blogger and recipe developer David Murphy for this innovative recipe. This meme served as Murphy’s inspiration for developing the recipe for instant pot wine, and rather than taking it sarcastically, Murphy took it very, very seriously.
Apparently, making wine in an instant pot isn’t as difficult as you might think (which Murphy discovered after much trial and error, of course). With the right ingredients and devices, it’s certainly doable.
First, you'll need an instant pot with a “yogurt” function. This function uses less heat, which is perfect for the wine yeast that you’ll use.
Then, get ingredients! This is what you'll need for your instant pot wine:
- 64 oz grape juice
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet of red wine or white wine yeast (depending on the type of grape juice you have)
- A funnel
Then, find the full recipe here.
After you're finished, Murphy recommends waiting 8-30 days before drinking your wine so that all the fizziness from the carbon dioxide can die off.
That’s it! It’s so simple. And you can use any type of grape juice depending on what suits your palate. Once you get these simple ingredients, you’ll be well on your way to making beautiful looking and tasting homemade wine.
