List1 of 9
Seek out the highs from a good habit to decrease the buzz from a bad habit.
When you indulge in bad habits -- whether it’s biting nails, doom
-scrolling on Facebook, or smoking -- your body releases happy hormones like
dopamine. The release of these chemicals in your body acts as a reward, so you
keep doing the bad thing. You need dopamine rushes, but should get them from
healthy habits like exercising or eating good foods. Once you satisfy the
dopamine craving with a good habit, it will feel more satisfying and you’ll be
less likely to seek out the bad.
