It’s “Hot Girl Summer," according to rising female rapper Megan Thee Stallion. There are no prerequisites for celebrating Hot Girl Summer; you
don’t need to be a skinny bikini model or even a girl, for that matter.
Everyone is part of Hot Girl Summer.
Allow me to explain...
Ms. Stallion coined the term as part of her song "Cash Sh*t," in which she raps abut “real hot girl sh*t.” Stallion's fans ran with it,
making it the season's unofficial catch phrase. But having a Hot Girl Summer doesn’t
mean that you look a certain way or are a certain age -- it’s a state of mind that promotes self-love and positivity.
"Hot Girl is the life of the party. It's about women and men being
unapologetically them[selves], just having a good-*ss time, hyping up their friends,
doing you," Stallion told The Root. That’s a movement I can definitely get behind.
Stallion has doubled down on the phrase, releasing a new song, “Hot Girl
Summer,” with Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign. This means August is getting
even hotter.
