In 2016, we saw Sara Bareilles, Rebel Wilson, Darren Criss and John Stamos take the Hollywood Bowl stage in Los Angeles as Ariel, Ursula, Prince Eric and Chef Louie, respectively, in a live concert retelling of “The Little Mermaid.”
This year, we were blessed with another Disney concert: stars like Zooey Deschanel, (returning) Rebel Wilson, Kelsey Grammer, Anthony Evans and Jane Krakowski slayed as characters from “Beauty and the Beast” this weekend for a two-night special.
As a ridiculously avid “Beauty and the Beast” fan (I only cried at the Emma Watson-led live action film last year), this is literal music to my ears.
With the original film accompanying the live performance, attendees were met with an orchestra comprised of performers from the original film, some exclusive performances from other renditions of the story and composer Alan Menken trying his hand at the classic “Tale as Old as Time.”
Since I wasn’t there in person, these performance videos will have to do -- and I’ll make sure I’m in California for the next Disney concert at the Bowl.
