A little after 11:00 a.m. today, Hillary Clinton officially conceded to Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States. Standing in front of supporters inside the New Yorker Hotel, Clinton accepted the results of the election and acknowledged the pain of defeat.
"I know how disappointed you feel, because I feel it, too," Clinton told the audience.
"This is painful and it will be for a long time, but I want you to remember this: Our campaign was never about one person or even one election. It was about the country we love and building an America that's hopeful, inclusive, and big-hearted."
There were several women in the audience, some with tear-stained faces, who listened as Clinton encouraged them that this election held historical significance for females in America.
"This loss hurts, but never stop believing that fighting for what right is worth it," Clinton said.
"To all the women and especially the young women who put their faith in in this campaign and especially in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion."
"And to all the little girls that are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams," the grandmother-of-two said.
