With all of the cool dye jobs out there on social media these days (we're looking at you, Instagram and Tumblr!) it's hard to resist the urge to drop everything and go for a total "My Little Pony" style. But then again, it takes a lot of time, money and effort to commit to a rainbow 'do. So if you're always second guessing your desire for brightly colored locks (or if your job just won't allow it), we might have a solution for you.
First we had the dip-dye trend, followed by ombre hair. Then stylists kicked things up a notch with pastel heads and the eye-catching oil slick look. And while we loved these looks for the immediate wow-factor they provided, they also proved to be a bit of a challenge. Maintaining pastel hair is basically a full time job, hiding your fuchsia tips when you aren't feeling the look that day is close to impossible and making the commitment to bleaching half your head is a tough pill to swallow just for that trendy ombre look.
Enter the hidden rainbow trend.
This look is achieved through applying rainbow stripes to a section of any hairstyle's lower layers. Yes, you still need to bleach your hair to get the colors to pop, but at least you're not damaging your whole head! Stylists and fashionistas alike are loving this new look because it's tucked away until you casually run your fingers through your hair or a crisp breeze tousles your locks. Here are some of our favorite takes on the look.
