The night is dark and full of terrors, but HBO has finally shown us the light at the end of the tunnel that is the long wait for the final season of "Game of Thrones." The same night the network showed its finale of "Sharp Objects," it also aired a preview of all that's to come in 2019. My head is spinning partially because there is a lot of good sh*t on the horizon, but mostly because we got a first look at what's in store for the Seven Kingdoms next year. I'm not crying, you're crying.
In the blink-and-you'll-miss-it clip, we see Jon Snow and Sansa Stark embracing. If you're an avid fan, you may think that this is a scene from season 7 when Sansa first arrived at Winterfell (don't worry, I did too). Upon further inspection, though, I found that it's actually brand new footage. Jon is wearing a fur coat in this scene, whereas his and Sansa's initial reunion was done sans-jacket. (Don't worry, I checked.)
GoT's final season is set to premiere sometime in early 2019, but we don't have a specific date yet (the rumor mill claims April 14, but who knows). The six feature-film-length episodes will follow our warriors as they head off to fight the Army of the Dead.
Also in HBO's preview was a first glimpse of our girl Meryl as Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Reese Witherspoon's character Madeline in "Big Little Lies." Honestly the only thing I love more than Reese Witherspoon is Reese alongside Meryl, so this is gonna be great.
"True Detective" returns for a third season, "Veep" returns for a seventh and "Game of Thrones" alum Peter Dinklage stars in a new biopic about late actor Hervé Villechaize called "My Dinner with Hervé."
Start clearing your DVRs now, people -- you're gonna need plenty of room come the new year.
