Yesterday Lifetime released the first trailer for "Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal," the sequel to 2018's "Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance."
Newbies Tiffany Marie Smith and Charlie Field replace Parisa Fitz-Henley and Murray Fraser as Meghan and Harry, which is set to premiere on Memorial Day. Charles Shaughnessy ("The Nanny") will step in as Prince Charles and some tall guy with thinning hair named Jordan Whalen will play Prince William. I guess the complaints about Wills looking more like an accountant from the midwest than a prince of the United Kingdom in the first movie were heard loud and clear.
According to IMDb, the two actresses who played Camilla Parker-Bowles and Kate Middleton were so convincing in "A Royal Romance" that they will reprise their roles.
The 20-second trailer doesn't show much in terms of plot (although it's a safe bet that the main focus will be the run-up to the couple's wedding). What is shown, however, is one of my favorite Markle looks, worn for Christmas 2017 service at St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Queen's Sandringham estate. Markle wore a long wide collar wrap coat in camel by Canadian brand Sentaler (aptly called "The Meghan Coat") with a bespoke velour beret by milliner Philip Treacy and Stuart Weitzman suede boots.
Replicating the beret is a challenge, since the attention to detail while creating the actual piece requires a lot of time (hence the high price points). The beret from the movie does not do the actual hat justice, but it came pretty close.
Kate's outfit in the movie looks a little phoned in. This is fair, considering all the energy likely went into making sure Meghan's outfit was as accurate as possible.
I love me a made-for-TV royal movie.
