"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is coming to theaters on Friday, and Disney has been building a lot of hype about the upcoming release.
The newest standalone film set in the "Star Wars" universe centers around burgeoning scoundrel Han Solo as he meets Wookiee Chewbacca and gambler Lando Calrissian for the first time, and naturally, the crew embarks on some wild space-western adventures.
Seasoned actor Harrison Ford is known for his role as Han Solo in previous "Star Wars" films, but Lucasfilm has enlisted Alden Ehrenreich to play the younger version of the rapscallion for the upcoming installment.
Ford has aged a bit since the 1977 release of "A New Hope," but that doesn't mean that he’s outgrown playing practical jokes.
While Ehrenreich was doing an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ford stealthily snuck up on him and demanded, “Get out of my chair” and “Get out of my life!”
Ehrenreich’s reaction was priceless, as he exclaimed, “You’re sh*tting me….Oh my god!” and immediately cracked a smile.
As it turns out, ET was in on the prank and purposely led up to Ford’s surprise appearance by asking Ehrenreich, “[Did Ford give you] any specific advice or guidance specifically to the role of playing Han Solo?” Ehrenreich responded, “Yeah, [Ford said] ‘If anyone asks, tell them I told you everything you need to know and that you’re not allowed to say a word.’” Interviewer Cameron Mathison then replied, “Well, you might want to say one or two more things” as Ford suddenly appeared beside the unaware actor.
After exchanging pleasantries, Ford said to explain his appearance, “I was just in the neighborhood.”
Afterwards, Ford sung Ehrenreich's praises, saying that he thought the young actor’s performance as Han Solo was “just spectacular” and that he “couldn’t be happier” with the results.
Even “Solo” director Ron Howard was shocked at Ford’s praise of Ehrenreich, saying that as he’s known Ford a long time, “[Ford] can be great, can be supportive. He is never effusive.”
