Everyone gets at least a little embarrassed by their moms during their lifetimes -- especially teenagers. Which is why Apple Martin’s continued rejection of Gwyneth Paltrow’s social media antics is endearing, not snotty.
Martin, the 16-year-old daughter of Paltrow and Coldplay lead man Chris Martin, has attempted to curb her mom’s Instagram usage in the past. Remember last year, when she left a snarky comment under a wholesome skiing photo Paltrow posted of the two? "Mom we have discussed this. You may not post anything without my consent."
Paltrow insisted that her daughter’s face wasn’t even visible, anyway, but we wouldn’t mess with a teenager’s wrath -- would you?
Later that year, Paltrow posted a birthday tribute on Martin’s 15th, but also included photos of the text exchange they’d previously had where Martin had sent her mom “Apple-approved birthday posts,” photos that Paltrow had express consent to share to Instagram. The girl’s tough, and we love it.
This time, though, it’s a photo Paltrow posted of herself that’s bearing the brunt of Martin’s judgment. To celebrate her 48th birthday yesterday, Paltrow shared an Instagram post in nothing but her birthday suit. She also used the opportunity to call out her "wellness" company, Goop, crediting her own body butter with "making me think I can still get my kit off." (This magical body butter can be found here, in case you buy into Gwyneth’s goopiness.)
Martin went ahead and posted her reaction to her mom’s...public nakedness.
While this might just seem like another notch in Paltrow’s belt of being called out by her daughter, further examination reveals that later on in the comments, Martin also says, "You are killing it tho." Interesting!
So, is her initial "MOM" a result of secondhand embarrassment, or is Martin taken off guard by her mother’s physique at 48? "MOM 🤦♀️" or "MOM 🤩"?
Either way, we give Martin credit for her patience -- Gwyneth's lifestyle is certainly an interesting one.
