My parents had two daughters and called it quits, much to my father’s chagrin, I’m sure. I give those couples that keep trying for the opposite gender props, but it’s got to be a frustrating process. There are plenty of families out there with three boys, or four girls, or five older brothers looking after that miracle little sister. But I hope that they handled the news of yet another boy or girl better than Celtics small forward Gordon Hayward.
He and his wife, Robyn, are expecting their third child. In a sad, sad gender reveal this morning, Hayward found out he was having a girl...again.
“Daddy’s always happy,” Hayward says in the reveal, but you can’t miss the disappointment in his voice recognizable to any father who yearns for a son.
The couple had their first daughter, Bernadette, in 2015, and Charlotte followed in 2016. Seems the two took a short break to care for their toddlers, but apparently decided to try for that boy.
Gender reveals are typically an exciting moment, like when “Jersey Shore” alum Deena Cortese recently found out she was having a boy.
Or you can take a look at these parents going off about their newest additions.
To be fair, Hayward has had a tough stretch. Just five minutes into his debut game with the Celtics last October, Hayward landed very wrong on his left leg and broke his fibula, ending his season barely before it started. After undergoing surgery in May, he’s expected to be back in action come next season, but still, the guy can’t catch a break. His daughters have been the cutest during his recovery, so one more can’t hurt, right Hayward?
Fourth one’s the charm, maybe?
