Those seeking proof that golden retrievers are four-legged guardian angels with a weakness for treats shall look no further, for one of them walks among us.
Meet Storm. Storm is a hero because on Sunday morning he saved a drowning baby deer in a Long Island harbor.
I KNOW.
Inside Edition interviewed Storm's owner, Mark Freeley, who caught the rescue on his smart phone.
"I saw him reach with his neck and open his mouth and put it on a fawn's neck," Freeley recalled.
"Storm is trying to save this baby deer...I think he's trying to save him," Freeley said as he kept the video rolling. "Storm, bring him in! Good boy, Storm!"
Storm dragged the deer to shore with his mouth, and though it seemed at first he wanted to chase it as it struggled to get to safety, Storm was making sure that it would survive. In the video you can hear Storm crying as he nudges the deer.
Freeley and Storm stayed with the fawn until a vet arrived on the scene. The fawn is OK and resting at a nearby animal shelter.
As a reward for his rescue, Freeley treated Storm with a trip to the doggy bakery.
"He probably had at least 10 [cookies]," Freeley joked.
Give him 10 more, Freeley.
