I’ve never seen anything more beautiful.
Nearly 400 golden retrievers got together for the party of the century in Tomich, Scotland to celebrate their existence -- as if they weren’t appreciated enough already.
The Golden Retriever Club of Scotland (OK, so...can I start a Golden Retriever Club of Boston?) organized the giant meet-up at the Guisachan Estate, former residence of 19th-century aristocrat Lord Tweedmouth.
I'm having trouble believing that that's a real name, but we'll go with it for the puppies' sake.
The dogs and their humans were partying for the anniversary of the golden retriever breed. The story goes that in 1868, Lord Tweedmouth needed a pooch who could easily navigate both the rocky landscape of the Scottish Highlands and the surrounding boggy marshes for hunting. After crossbreeding a retriever with a wavy coat (ugh, we love) with a tweed-water spaniel, Air Bud was born and has become the third most popular breed in the U.S.
TY, Tweedmouth!
So it’s been 150 years since we were #blessed with the first golden retriever puppy, and boy do these pups know how to throw a party.
All I need to know is this: Will there or will there not be a 151st anniversary party? Because I’m planning my trip now.
