Goats of Anarchy
I started following/donating to GOA a few years back on Instagram because the photos immediately tugged at my heart strings. Some of the stories shared on social don't have a happy ending, while others are lighthearted. No matter the outcome, founder Leanne Lauricella is there holding each and every animal so that they are not alone.
Lauricella's story is an interesting one; she was working as a corporate events planner in New York City and kept passing goat farms in New Jersey on her way to work. One day she and her husband stopped at one and she decided she wanted to rehabilitate goats in need.
“I went from making six figures to zero figures -- I was terrified,” Lauricella told People Magazine. Still, she knew this was her passion.
“The more time I spent outside working with them and cleaning and picking up poop, I loved it,” she says. “I became a crazy goat person. I just didn’t want to go to work anymore.”
Lauricella came up with the name for her first five goats while binge-watching FX's "Sons of Anarchy," hence the name of her Instagram page.
