As parents to 5-year-old Duke, Bill and Giuliana Rancic say they’re always looking for advice, hacks and answers to pretty specific questions about raising their son. So, they’ve decided to take it into their own hands -- their website and app, Pear, is now available for your parenting pleasure.
Giuliana told ABC News that she was constantly looking for the most up-to-date information in order to best raise her son, but wasn’t floored with her options. Working with contributors like IVF doctors, child psychologists and nutritionists, the Rancics launched Pear yesterday.
Acting as a sort of forum, the app and website is broken down to categorize content by a child’s age and a parent’s concern. A premium-style feature (with a $2.99 price tag attached) also allows users to create profiles and engage in chatroom-style posts after giving the app a bit of background.
Giuliana said she herself has posted questions seeking motherly advice from those on the site, like how to get her son to sleep in his own bed.
"You can direct message them, you can follow them, they can follow you. Parents can lean on each other for advice and our experts will also be jumping in the forum, answering questions,” she said.
Giuliana’s main goal for the app is to avoid the parent-shamers and trolls that usually pop up in these types of settings. I'm a bit wary of taking advice from Giuliana herself, but it's comforting to know that she's asking the experts for help just as much as the rest of us.
Bill and Giuliana’s past projects have included a line of prosecco and restaurants, and we all know Giuliana has made her mark on E! presenting on the red carpet at award shows and keeping up with celeb gossip. It'll be interesting to see how mommy bloggers everywhere react to this app.
