It's no surprise that being the CEO of HBO has its perks. One of those, among many, is getting advanced screenings of new TV shows and movies that the network has in the works. While attending a post-Golden Globes party on Sunday night, boss man Richard Plepler told Variety that he has already seen all six episodes from the final season of "Game of Thrones." *gasp*
“It’s a spectacle," he said. "The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, ‘I’m watching a movie.'" It's no surprise that he felt this way, considering each of the episodes will be upwards of 90 minutes in length.
“They knew the bar was high," he said of showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. "They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe. Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.”
Although we don't yet have an official trailer for the eighth season -- which will premiere sometime in April -- we did get some new footage over the weekend during HBO's 2019 preview trailer.
In the clip, we see Daenerys finally arriving in Winterfell while a strained-looking Sansa welcomes her. Why do I have a feeling these two are not going to get along? April cannot come soon enough.
