1. Lin-Manuel Miranda has a stable of actors and creatives he continues to work with.
Since his early days, Miranda has kept coming back to the same
people for his team, again and again. Miranda co-wrote “In the Heights” with
musical director Alex Lacamoire before they wrote "Hamilton" together. Thomas
Kail, director of both musicals, met Miranda in college at Wesleyan University and
the two went on to form a hip-hop group, Freestyle Love Supreme. Also in the
group was Christopher Jackson, who went on to play Benny in “In the
Heights” as well as George Washington in “Hamilton.” Anthony Ramos was in
regional productions of “In the Heights” before joining the cast of “Hamilton.”
He will star in next year’s “In the Heights” movie, playing the role Miranda
originated on Broadway. Daveed Diggs (Lafayette/Jefferson) and Leslie Odom Jr. (Burr) have also worked with Miranda in the past, and Diggs will work again with Miranda on Disney's "The Little Mermaid" live-action remake as Sebastian. It must be nice to have Lin-Manuel Miranda on your
side.
