Eight months after joining the Bush administration as White House press secretary, Ari Fleischer bore witness to one of the deadliest attacks on American soil. Fleischer was in Florida with President Bush on Sept. 11, 2001 when he learned that a plane had struck one of the World Trade towers in New York City.
In 2013, Fleischer decided to share details of that day on Twitter, a tradition he's carried on to this day.
"I got started and I just couldn't stop," Fleischer told Twitter's media blog that year, according to the Washington Post.
