Sure, germs on airplanes are especially a concern right now during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they've always been there. That's the reminder we received via flight attendant Kat Kamalani's TikTok video that was featured on People.com.
"First things [sic] first, do not touch the backseat pocket," Kamalani advises viewers. "They clean them out between flights but they don't sanitize them. Think of all the dirty tissues, barf bags and garbage that has been in them."
I felt like she was talking to me, since I'm always looking for the menu in the backseat pocket as soon as I sit down.
What else should you sanitize? Your tray table, which some people use to change their childrens' diapers and don't clean after.
Other places mentioned are the overhead air vents and safety guides (located in the backseat pockets -- flight attendants don't sanitize those, Kamalani confirmed).
Watch the video (and maybe bookmark it on your phone) for all the places on a plane you should definitely, definitely wipe down before using when you travel.
