The end-credit scene of “Avengers: Infinity War” featured a
frantic page by Nick Fury to a yet unseen super hero – Captain Marvel. We’ve
been waiting months to get a glimpse of the newest addition to the Marvel
Cinematic Universe and thanks to Entertainment Weekly, it’s finally here!
Brie Larson is set to make her debut as Carol Danvers – a
human U.S. Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with alien Kree DNA to make a one
of the superest superheroes of all time – in March 2019 when the standalone 1990s-set
“Captain Marvel” is released. This will be the first woman-led film in the MCU.
Captain Marvel will then appear in next spring’s untitled “Avengers 4” in which she will seemingly save the world from Thanos – a feat that regulars like Iron
Man and Captain America couldn’t manage.
Larson teased the big reveal last night on Twitter when she coolly
threatened mayhem:
This is the first official look at Larson in costume, which
aligns with fan art, but differs from paparazzi set photos showing the Oscar winner in an
emerald green version of the suit. Larson teased the role back in 2016, but her look has been in lockdown since
then.
Entertainment Weekly is treating us to 10 photos from the film, including a look at the alien Skrulls, Jude Law as commander of Starforce, and a
two-eyed Nick Fury. This might be all we get until a trailer drops, so we're savoring every morsel.
The film opens on March 8, 2019. That's 185 days away, in case you're counting.
