The 2020 Academy Awards announced their nominations this week, and the backlash is not slowing down. Among other criticisms, the lack of female nominated directors has celebs, critics and fans alike in a tizzy. Five men are up for the Best Director nod, all for acclaimed movies, to be sure, but the Academy has faced harsh judgment for their snubs in the past, and it looks like old habits die hard.
