The internet is full of cat videos. Between hula-hooping felines and kittens that are always finding new places to sit, there is definitely no shortage of wildly entertaining cat videos to lose yourself in for an afternoon.
Lauren Paris, though not a cat, should be included in the cache of internet cat videos for her plea to adopt Bruno, the 25-pound shelter cat that has captivated everyone who sees him with his special trick.
“Bruno is a goofy feline that keeps everyone laughing,” Jacoby Andrick, director of marketing and communications at Wright Way Rescue in Illinois, told PEOPLE.
Bruno had been acquiesced to Wright Way when his first owners were unable to keep him. Andrick said that Bruno didn’t vibe well with the young children in that home, so Wright Way took to Facebook last week to try and get the word out about Bruno needing a home.
“I know my tummy is so tempting to touch, but I would prefer if you didn't. I may swat my hand and pretend to bite if you do. I have a couple quirky traits too....For one, I like to stand on my hind legs!” the post about the behemoth reads. “This usually happens when I want food. No, my foster parents did not teach me this. They are not sure how I learned...Yes, I know I am EXTRA.”
Bruno was even sneaking into other cats’ cages to eat their food. Bruno sounds a lot like me.
But the coverage paid off! After an outpouring of applications (some even from Canada and Australia) to adopt Bruno, he and his foster parents at Wright Way decided that Paris was the lucky new cat mom -- and there’s no way that this video she sent in didn’t have something to do with it.
“Bruno has made his choice, and he found someone just as extra as him,” Wright Way wrote when sharing the video.
Paris, on top of the letters of recommendation and photos of her home she included in her adoption application, had a friend write lyrics to the Bruno song and performed it quite well, actually.
Unhandled
An update on Bruno’s original post reported that the tubby tom went home to Chicago with Paris yesterday, and it looks like the two of them are getting along just fine according to Bruno’s new Instagram account.
I couldn’t imagine a better pairing. And even though Bruno is spoken for, Wright Way Rescue still has tons of animals looking for homes -- maybe you’ll find your own high-maintenance cat.
