Actress Evangeline Lilly has been busy doing press ahead of the July 6 release of "Ant-Man and the Wasp," the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the film, Lilly dons the Wasp suit while she and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) fight the bad guys as a dynamic new duo that we desperately need, especially after that "Infinity War" ending. In a recent interview with BackstageOL's Dave Morales, the 38-year-old was asked how she feels while wearing her super suit.
"I love my suit," she said. "I think my suit is killer, I think my suit is so cool...it's powerful, it's modern, it's strong, it's sexy and it made me feel like a superhero."
But how do her male costars feel about their suits?
"I have been hearing Marvel male superheroes complain about their suits for years," Lilly explained. "And I got into my suit and I was wearing it, working in it, doing my thing and I was like, 'It's just not that bad. Do I have the most comfortable suit in the MCU? Or have men not had the life experience of being uncomfortable for the sake of looking good?'"
And with that, Evangeline Lilly became my life, my love and my hero. This woman literally raises her foot up into the air to show off her six-inch stiletto to prove her point. Beauty is pain, am I right, ladies?
She continues, "[The male MCU actors] are just like, 'What is this? This sucks. Why are we...why? Why do I have to go through this?' Whereas a woman is like, 'I don't know, this is normal. I wear heels to work and I'm uncomfortable all day. You get used to it -- you tune it out.'"
AMEN, SISTER.
This isn't the first time we've heard male actors complaining about their respective costumes while women are taking it all in stride. During press for "Iron Man 3" in 2013, Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't shy to call her costars "crybabies" after finally getting to experience an Ironman suit first hand.
"It was nothing at all," Paltrow said. "Women are so much stronger than men...What are they complaining about? It's not as comfortable as yoga pants but it's a costume. Men are crybabies."
Why am I not surprised by any of this? Sorry guys, but y'all are babies and I hope you know it.
One more time for good measure, shall we?
