Like all other awards shows this year, the 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards went semi-virtual, but that didn't mean the fashion was a no-show. If anything, we at home got to enjoy the gowns, headpieces and makeup more than we would have had there been a traditional red carpet. Kaley Cuoco got to have herself another backyard photoshoot, Kerry Washington went swimming in her mermaid-esque ensemble and Anya Taylor-Joy had her dainty details on display.
The pride of the SAG Awards' "red carpet" though was designer Brett Heyman's luxury handbag and decor line, Edie Parker. While it's not a brand that us plebs will often find ourselves shopping, what with their $1,500 four-in-a-row games and $400 candlestick holders, Edie Parker's clutches and bags are the perfect combination of whimsical and practical, and the SAG stars quickly caught on.
Jamie Chung, who was part of the nominated ensemble cast of HBO's "Lovecraft Country," used her Edie Parker statement piece to make a statement. The designer created a custom clutch for Chung that matched her crimson Oscar de la Renta gown and read, "Stop Asian Hate" as part of ongoing calls to put an end to senseless violence against Asian Americans. Chung also made sure to note that she chose to wear red for a reason: "In some Asian cultures, the color red symbolizes joy, luck and happiness. In Korean culture it symbolizes creation, passion and power," she wrote on Instagram. "I'm so proud of my history and heritage."
Also part of the Edie Parker fan club last night was Sarah Levy, who appeared alongside her father and brother, Eugene and Dan, to accept the win for Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series for "Schitt's Creek" (the show also brought in a win for Catherine O'Hara among their five total nominations). Levy wore a strapless, pale pink column gown by Monique Lhuillier with a low, sleek ponytail and minimal jewelry for a simple, polished look, but it was her Edie Parker clutch that stole the show.
The bag matched her dress -- with some added shine from the marble look it had -- and read, "Oh Schitt!" in a very on-brand customization.
Edie Parker is all over the place, if you're paying attention. Jordan Alexander, who'll appear in HBO Max's "Gossip Girl" reboot, had a photoshoot holding a sunshine yellow Edie clutch, and Kylie Jenner seems to be a repeat customer.
I'll be saving up for my own Edie clutch starting...yesterday.
