What in the Early Aughts Heck Was This Hairstyle Called?

When the Los Angeles Times interviewed Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh about the upcoming "Little Women" film last week, Pugh was photographed wearing a very distinct hairstyle. This sent the team over at The Cut off on a frenzy, in which four of their staff discussed the merits, motives and, most importantly, name of this particular volumizing coif. "I have never even heard the term 'bump.' That picture is and has always been a pouf to me," one said. "I had, until this morning, no language for this hairstyle. But as soon as people said 'bump' about that pic, I knew, immediately. As if I had always known," another shared. The 'do was common around the early- to mid-aughts, when shows like "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" reigned supreme and your flat iron was your best friend.
