Ah, football. The great American pastime. Something we can all agree brings the country together. Along with the leader of the Commonwealth, apparently.
At last night Chiefs vs. Texans NFL kickoff game, Arrowhead Stadium allowed around 17,000 fans to semi-fill the stands. They were social distanced, wore masks and were even still able to be heard from the field (even though they were supplemented by artificial "crowd noise" as well), but some extra help was, apparently, deemed necessary. Cardboard cut-outs of certain high-profile fans were placed in the stands, much like how the MLB has opted to recreate their crowds, and two particular faces definitely stood out more than the rest.
Seems like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson not only recovered from coronavirus quite efficiently, but he's also aged backwards about 20 years. Queen Elizabeth II, however, looks just as 94 years old as she does in real life.
Nevertheless, Johnson took to the clandestine meeting well, poking fun at his "unique relationship" with Her Majesty while praising the league for a triumphant return.
But while the cutout version of the monarch seems in high spirits, leaning in and stroking Johnson's cheek with a wide grin, we'd imagine this oft stoned-faced royal would be a little less amused to be at an American football game, during a pandemic, seated alongside one of the largest men in the world.
