Self-help entrepreneur and Dutch media personality Emile Ratelband feels far younger than his 69 years. In fact, Ratelband has proof from his doctor that his body functions like that of a 45-year-old.
In an effort to combat age discrimination (he claims his work and Tinder options are more limited at an older age), Ratelband is suing his local government for a legal age change.
"Transgender people can now have their gender changed on their birth certificate, and in the same spirit there should be room for an age change," Ratelband argued. "When I'm 69, I am limited. If I'm 45, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work."
"When I'm on Tinder and it says I'm 69, I don't get an answer. When I'm 45, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position."
According to Ratelband's website, he has seven children and is in a "steady relationship with the woman of his dreams." And yet, here we are trying to reduce his legal age for better luck with the ladies.
Touché, your honor.
When Ratelband presented his case, he told the judge that by allowing him and others to make this change, the government will be able to hold pensions until retirement age is reached (whenever that happens).
In response, the judge handling the case threw Ratelband a curveball; if people are allowed to legally change their date of birth, they are effectively erasing portions of their lives.
"For whom did your parents care in those years?" the judge asked, according to the Daily Mail. "Who was that little boy back then?"
Touché, your honor.
