Earlier this morning, a 45-year-old man opened fire at Fiamma Inc., his former place of work in Orlando, Florida. Armed with a gun and a knife, the suspect killed four former co-workers -- one woman and three men -- before turning the gun on himself. CNN reports that a fifth victim died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
According to Time Magazine, the suspect (whose name won't be released until his next of kin is contacted) was fired from the company back in April, and had been accused of battery by another employee in 2014. That employee, along with six others present when the shooting occurred, was reportedly not injured in today's shooting.
One employee was using the bathroom when the shooting occurred, according to her sister. "She said, 'I saw too much. My boss is dead,'" Shelley Adams recalled from their phone call.
The suspect's criminal history included possession of marijuana, misdemeanor battery and a DUI.
At press time, the shooting is not being treated as an act of terrorism.
News of the murders comes just days before the first anniversary of the mass shooting at Orlando's Pulse Nightclub, the country's deadliest terror attack since September 11, 2001.
