1. The Great Pyramids were ancient ruins to Cleopatra.
When we think of Ancient Egypt, we think of Pharoahs, Sphinxes and the Pyramids. Cleopatra is one of the most well-known rulers of Egypt, but she's actually more closely related, historically speaking, to us than she is to her Pyramid-building forebears. Cleopatra was born in 69 B.C.E., which is definitely a long time ago. But considering the Great Pyramids were constructed around 2560 B.C.E. (to put this into perspective: there were still wooly mammoths on Earth!), they were hanging out for two and a half millennia before Cleopatra was even a twinkle in Caesar's eye.
