When I first heard about ProYo ice cream, I'll be honest when I say that I was a bit skeptical. Between the name and the company's branding, I imagined that this ice cream would look like traditional soft serve but taste like a protein bar. Whether that's good or bad, I have no idea, but I went into it with an open mind.
Spoiler alert: ProYo is delicious.
The ProYo brand was founded by Nathan Carey, after a weightlifting accident left him in the hospital with months of rehab ahead of him. While he recovered and met others who were dealing with tough recoveries of their own, Carey set out to create a product that met various dietary restrictions while also being tasty and enjoyable to eat.
"ProYo is a revolutionary high-protein blend that combines delicious taste, powerful nutrition, clean ingredients, and a touch of delight," states the brand's website. "It’s food with purpose… for Weekend Warriors, busy parents, healthful yogis, and picky kids. It’s also for the doctors, nutritionists, and patients I’ve had the pleasure of meeting along my journey. It’s for anyone with optimism and determination – with a desire to dig into life and do more every day."
The Dailybreak team had the opportunity to try ProYo and overall, we loved it. We got to taste test all seven flavors currently available -- vanilla bean, mint chip, Dutch chocolate, coconut, mocha, dark chocolate toffee and blueberry pomegranate. Read on to see what the team had to say about this high-protein treat.
