It’s fair to say that Crayola crayons are the crème de la crème of school supplies. I remember the satisfying feeling of opening up a brand new box of perfectly sharpened, 64-count crayons and trading them with my friends. I loved the color options and the cute names like “Jazzberry Jam” and “Macaroni and Cheese.” For many of us, our interest in makeup began in childhood with a box of crayons. As I got older and more into the beauty world, makeup gave me the opportunity to have fun, play with colors and express myself. It's basically coloring for adults.
Now, people can safely color their faces with their beloved Crayola crayons (kind of). The iconic art brand has just released of line of ASOS-exclusive makeup inspired by its colorful wax crayons. Crayola Beauty encourages people to “Color Outside the Lines” and offers 58 products in 95 vegan, cruelty-free and inclusive shades. The line is focused on “celebrating individuality and self-expression.” The collection is available only on ASOS.com and products range in price from $14 to $40.
Makeup-lovers can now buy from a range of eyeshadow palettes, mascaras, and face and lip “crayons.” The line has a very nostalgic feel and even offers shades in classic Crayola colors like "Mango Tango" and "Dandelion." Even better, the products are all shaped like Crayola crayons—I’m a sucker for cute packaging so this definitely caught my attention.
Crayola is no stranger to the makeup world and has been an inspiration to various companies, from Clinque's line of “Crayola Chubby Stick” lipsticks, to Sally Hansen's "Insta-Dri + Crayola" collection of nail polish shades.
The makeup collection encourages anyone to color outside the lines. Everything in the range is designed to be genderfluid, and campaign ads feature both men and women wearing the products. Crayola does not set any restrictions with this line and lets individuals express themselves with fun, playful colors or more muted shades.
My inner child needs the entire line.
