Here's to You, Captain von Trapp: Christopher Plummer Dies at 91

Christopher Plummer, who many know as the dashing Captain von Trapp in 1965's "The Sound of Music," passed away today at his home in Connecticut with his wife, Elaine Taylor, by his side, according to Deadline Hollywood. He was 91. “Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self deprecating humor and the music of words," Lou Pitt, Plummer's friend and manager of 46 years, said in a statement. "He was a National Treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come. He will forever be with us.” Plummer acted on stage and screen, including roles later in his life in films like "A Beautiful Mind," "Up," "All the Money in the World," "Beginners" (for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar) and "Knives Out."
