“The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” will drop on Netflix this Friday to much anticipation. Based on Sabrina Spellman, a character from the Archie Comics who’s already been reprised once in ABC’s sitcom “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” this show is set to be much darker than the story of a teenage witch figuring out her powers while navigating high school.
The stars of the upcoming show appeared in Los Angeles for a red carpet premiere, and while Kiernan Shipka of “Mad Men,” who’s playing Sabrina, was doing her thing, a brighter star made his appearance: Salem Saberhagen himself.
Yes, a cat walked the red carpet, and it was cooler than anything the rest of us have ever done in our lives. And as a cat mom myself, I can definitively say that this feline cleaned up for his spotlight moment. I mean, look how sleek that coat is!
Soak up these pictures while you have ‘em, because we probably won’t see much of Salem on screen in this reboot -- Shipka discovered her cat allergy while filming.
“We keep at a safe distance,” Shipka told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s like, ‘Actors That Didn’t Get Along in Shows: Kiernan and the Cat Hated Each Other.'”
If “Riverdale,” the eerie CW show also based on Archie characters, is any indication, “Sabrina” is going to be spooky and sinister; Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is behind both series.
In fact, Shipka has made it clear that she’d be all in on a “Sabrina”-“Riverdale” crossover, and if the last couple of episodes with Archie and his friends can be relied on, we’re thinking it’s not too out there to think that witches can come to Riverdale -- especially since Shipka almost played Betty Cooper.
Maybe someone in Riverdale without an allergy can adopt Salem?
