Oh wow, the critics did not like what director Tom Hooper did with "Cats." The Broadway musical is a divisive one -- some like it and and some absolutely hate it, so bringing it to the big screen came with a risk.
The Boston Globe's Ty Burr described feeling an "eeriness or revulsion when looking at a humanoid figure that’s not quite human" in his review of the film, a sentiment echoed by those who were traumatized by actors who jumped off the stage and into the audience during past performances of "Cats."
Burr also wrote, "My eyes are burning. Oh God, my eyes."
