Over the years, I’ve cracked my fair share of wishbones at the Thanksgiving dinner table. Thinking back, I wish I had paid more attention to the wishes I made and whether or not they came true, but regardless of the validity of a wish being granted based on which piece of bone ends up in your hand, we all still do it.
As opposed to wishing on a star or at 11:11 every day or night, though, the “wishbone” tradition has some historical roots (well, who knows, maybe the 11:11 wish does too -- we’ll get back to it another time).
