There are plenty of excuses for missing school -- I was sick, my alarm didn't go off, a distant family member died. But a signed letter from The Boss himself asking for an absence to be excused is probably the last thing a teacher would expect from a student.
Michael Fenerty, a fifth grader from Pennsylvania, and his dad are both huge fans of Bruce Springsteen. So when the musician announced a concert and meet-and-greet event in Philadelphia, the father and son knew they had to go. There was only one problem -- Michael would have to miss his first day of school to attend the events. Clearly, the boy takes after his teacher-turned-lawyer father because he snuck a pre-written letter excusing his school absence into the meet-and-greet.
The only thing missing? A signature from Springsteen. Luckily, The Boss still understands the importance of making the most of one's glory days and signed the boy's letter. Now, let's just hope the school accepted it!
