What Will Happen to the 124th Boston Marathon?

The city of Boston announced today that the iconic marathon will not be held this year due to public health concerns. The race, originally planned for April 20, had already been postponed to Sept. 14, but mayor Martin J. Walsh said there's "no way" to hold the marathon without drawing large crowds. "While our goal and hope was to make progress in containing the virus and recovering our economy, this kind of event would not be responsible or realistic on Sept. 14 or anytime this year," he said during a press conference.
