The American Ballet Theatre Invites You to Their TikTok Performances

With their 2021 spring season canceled and performances indefinitely confined off-stage, the American Ballet Theatre has pivoted, of course, to TikTok. Over on the video-sharing platform, the changing culture of ballet is on display, with the company taking us behind the metaphorical curtain with 101-style videos, mini performances and short dance challenges. You can see ABT's inclusivity and community in their videos, which dancer and ABT social media coordinator Connor Holloway told Popsugar is a way to shed new light on ballet as an art-sport. "We come from all walks of life, but we're also just as entrenched in everything that's happening in our society. And I think that gets lost or forgotten because we're just sort of tokenized as this little girl in a pink tutu," they said. That being said...we love the tutus.
