All right, you filthy Armie Hammer fanatics -- you need to stop abusing fruit. Fans of Hammer, star of last year’s acclaimed indie film “Call Me By Your Name,” have been haunting the stage door of Hammer’s new Broadway show “Straight White Men” and asking the actor to sign their peaches.
If you saw “Call Me By Your Name,” you might remember a scene where co-star Timothée Chalamet’s character Elio gets, uh, friendly with a stone fruit shortly before Hammer’s character Oliver tries to eat the fruit. Much like Hammer’s dancing in the film, fans still aren't over it and now want Hammer’s Hancock on a fruit of their own.
Surprisingly, Hammer doesn’t really get the obsession. He told "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert, “They’re going to put that peach on a shelf because it has my signature, and in 10 days it’s going to putrefy and their entire place is gonna be full of fruit flies.” Hammer also acquiesced they could get into character with the innocent fruit, but we’d like to believe the less kinky theory that they’ll Instagram it and toss it. Just don’t eat it because, as Hammer says, “There’s Sharpie on it.”
More good news for all you "Call Me By Your Name" fans: Hammer confirmed that director Lucca Guadagnino is working on a possible sequel to the film. Hammer and Colbert joked that a honeydew or watermelon might be the next object of affection for the characters. **Fans self** Uhhhh, here’s a GIF of Hammer dancing instead:
